Yes it really bothers me – is my family less because my womb doesn’t work? And is your family less because you’ve made a choice? No, of course not!! I agree about the pools here, it was all a bit odd so we just mainly used our private one rather than bothering to try. Shouldn’t parents/adult family members be allowed to be with their kids while swimming? You know, with the risk of drowning and all? I’m guessing they have lifeguards, but it still seems strange to me.Gorgeous hotel – you always pick good ones!]]>Language matters. I’m with you. While I come at it from a different perspective (childfree by choice), I, too, chafe at the use of “family” to only mean adults with children. When people ask if I have a family, I always say “yes.” (Sometimes if they ask if I have kids, I say, “Yes, but they’re deformed. They have 4 legs and these weird protrusions coming out of their backsides.”) 😉
