Big Projects, Big Problems, Big Opportunities

The School had the opportunity to host Jonas Söderlund, Professor of Business Administration, Department of Management and Engineering, Linköping University, Sweden and Professor, Department of Leadership and Management, BI Norwegian School of Management Oslo, Norway who presented a research seminar on Wednesday January 18th . His presentation titled” Big Projects, Big Problems, Big Opportunities: The Macro and Micro Foundations of Project Organizing” was well attended by 25 PCPM staff, PhD students, and guests from industry and project management professional associations.

The presentation had a focus on the perspective of project management as strategy delivery and being of multidisciplinary scope and impact. Professor Söderlund was able to provide a very relevant global perspective. He also discussed how project management has evolved from being seen as a purely technical discipline around 20 years ago to a new current ‘strategy as delivery’ perspective. He outlined areas for further theory development in the PM discipline. Professor Söderlund is a leading and highly respected global academic in the field of Project Management and has written extensively in this field, publishing many highly cited journal articles and 10 books.
