Introducing our new staff – Erica Mulowayi

Dr Erica Mulowayi is a lecturer in the School of Property, Construction and Project Management at RMIT University. Erica holds a PhD in Construction Management and Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her research focused on post disaster recovery and reconstruction of infrastructure systems such as water, transport, energy and ICT. She investigated the influence of infrastructure interdependencies on the post-disaster recovery effort.

Prior to joining RMIT, Erica had a range of work experience including lecturing in various Civil Engineering subjects, as well as Construction and Project Management subjects. She was involved in the delivery of courses such as high-rise construction and engineering, organisations and projects, design and planning of highways, transport engineering, and civil engineering systems, at QUT.

As an experienced Lecturer with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry, Erica worked as a lecturer in Soil Mechanics in the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at Western Sydney University. She also worked as a lecturer in Project Management in the Business School at La Trobe University. Most recently, she was involved in a research project at the Design Innovation Research Centre (DIRC) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Erica holds a bachelor degree (honours) in Civil Engineering from Griffith University. She worked as a research assistant at National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) in collaboration with China Engineering Consultant Institute (CECI). She also worked on road construction projects with Logan City Council’s Road Construction and Maintenance department as well as with Abigroup Contractors, which was part of Lendlease.
