RMIT Habitat partnership continues

A fourth cohort of students travelled from RMIT to Yea in February 2019, to continue work on the houses that Habitat for Humanity is constructing there.

Nine students accompanied by three staff from PCPM stayed in Yea for five days, working on site during the day. Under the guidance of qualified tradespeople, site tasks included cladding two houses that we helped with in December, and the students also learnt to insulate external walls and ceilings. Students are assessed on their ability to relate their site work to building codes, on their leadership and on their reflection of the role of Habitat in providing low cost housing.

These will be the third and fourth houses that PCPM has assisted with;  the Yea development is likely to conclude in the next 12 months but Habitat is in the process of gaining permission to develop land on the Mornington Peninsula.
