RELEVANT PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Project: South Wharf Precinct
Client: Austexx
Role: Senior Project Manager
Value: $350M
Procurement Model: GMP
The precinct comprises a DFO shopping centre, a 12 level 5 Star Green Star accredited commercial tower, residential townhouses and a 3,000 space car park. The project also included an extensive wharf rebuild, refurbishment of wharf sheds and reconstruction of the iconic Polly Woodside ship, a dry dock, associated public areas and Yarra River promenade works.
Luke is proud of the extensive stakeholder coordination and consultation he brought to the project both prior and during construction to gain approvals from either a government body or services authority and deliver a successful project.

Project: Westfield London
Client: Westfield
Role: Construction Manager
Value: £1B
Procurement Model: D&C
This world class retail centre, set on London’s latest brownfield redevelopment site at the time, was Luke’s entry into the world of major projects. Luke describes this project as half engineering and half building. The enormous works packages required to enable the land parcel alone were both unique and challenging.
This was a key project in Luke’s career, from learning about HR issues to navigating the sheer size of the management team. “You have to live and breathe a major project to understand what it takes to work in one and to manage at executive level,” adds Luke.

Project: Concept Blue Apartments
Client: Lustig & Moar
Role: Project Manager
Value: $100M
Procurement Model: D&C
Luke was 29 when he embarked on his first role as Project Manager. The Concept Blue project involved major refurbishment to the heritage listed 1940s era Russell Street Police Station, with restoration of its iconic radio tower and structural repairs to bomb damaged façade brickwork. At the same time, the building was converted to modern apartments.
Construction included an extensive five storey basement adjacent the police building and a new 33 storey apartment tower. Through persistence and detailed problem solving, the refurbishment was a success, with the façade elements and internal beams preserved.
